Jewish Intentional Community Book Club
Creating a Life Together: Practical Tools To grow ecovillages and Intentional Communities
About
Are you passionate about sustainable living, intentional communities, or earth-based Judiasm? Do you dream of building or joining a Jewish intentional community where we share in Shabbat, Jewish tradition, life-cycle events, farming, renewable energy, etc? If so, our 7-week book club is for you!
We'll be reading Creating a Life Together: Practical Tools to Grow Ecovillages and Intentional Communities by Diana Leafe Christian, an essential guide for anyone looking to foster cooperative living and sustainable communities. The bookclub will be broken into 7 weeks, so that we can have more detailed conversation. Our aim is to foster dialogue with like-minded individuals who may be interested in building a similar dream. At the end of our book club, there will be an opportunity for each member to share their personal vision for intentional community and for folks to move into the action phase with those who resonate.
The facilitator of this book club is interested in visioning an earth-based, sustainable Jewish community that believes in healing and consciousness evolution; however, the discussions of the Bookclub do not need to be framed around this vision. We welcome all perspectives on Jewish communal living and for this discussion group to be a place to meet others who are interested in Jewish communal living. We will use the book as a guide to discuss how to successfully build an intentional community.
