You Might Need Trauma-Informed Couples Therapy If...

Past trauma is affecting how one or both of you experience the relationship.

Overwhelmed by small conflicts or are quickly triggered and emotional.

Shut down or disconnect when conversations become emotionally difficult.

Difficulty trusting or depending on someone.

Safety and calm are states that are missing from the relationship.

Past relationship wounds continue to show up in your current relationship.

Conflict activates fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses.

Communication is not working and neither partner feels heard.

What We Do in Trauma-Informed Couples Therapy

If you love each other but keep getting pulled into the same patterns of conflict, distance, pursuit, or withdrawal, attachment-based couples therapy can help you understand what's happening underneath them.

  • Understand how trauma shows up in your relationship — Recognize how past experiences shape present-day reactions, fears, and patterns of connection.

  • Identify your triggers — Learn what activates feelings of rejection, abandonment, danger, criticism, or loss of control.

  • Recognize trauma responses — Understand when fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses are taking over during conflict.

  • Create emotional safety — Build a relationship where both partners feel safer expressing needs, emotions, and vulnerability.

  • Slow down reactivity — Learn to notice when your nervous system is activated and respond rather than automatically react.

  • Understand the person beneath the protection — See the fear or hurt underneath anger, defensiveness, withdrawal, or avoidance.

  • Break old relationship patterns — Recognize when past wounds are being replayed in your relationship and create new responses.

  • Communicate without retraumatizing each other — Learn to navigate difficult conversations while respecting boundaries, triggers, and emotional limits.

  • Repair emotional injuries — Work through moments of betrayal, disconnection, or hurt that continue to affect trust and closeness.

  • Build trust and secure connection — Create a relationship where both partners can feel seen, understood, and emotionally safe.

I’m Jeanie

I help couples move beyond recurring conflict, rebuild trust, and create deeper emotional connection through honest, meaningful conversations.

I work best with couples who want an active, attuned therapist who will engage deeply rather than simply listen from the sidelines. My approach blends emotional depth with a transpersonal perspective, viewing relationships as a powerful space for growth, healing, and greater self-awareness. Together, we slow things down, explore vulnerability, and create space for more conscious and meaningful ways of relating.

Attachment therapy can help you

understand how past wounds are effecting your relationship.

My Approach

Relationships can activate old wounds in ways we don't always recognize. Trauma-informed couples therapy helps you understand these triggers, slow down reactive patterns, and create greater emotional safety together.

My work is rooted in trauma-informed care, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and attachment theory. Together, we explore how past experiences, attachment wounds, and protective responses shape the way you react to—or protect yourself from—each other, creating new pathways toward safety, trust, intimacy, and connection.

I also bring a transpersonal perspective, viewing relationships as opportunities for healing and growth. Our closest relationships can bring unresolved wounds to the surface while offering new experiences of trust, vulnerability, and connection. Your relationship can become a place where healing happens together while each partner continues to grow individually.

I welcome monogamous, polyamorous, open, LGBTQIA+, and transitioning partnerships. Whether you're navigating trauma, recurring conflict, disconnection, intimacy, or trust, our work helps you break painful patterns, feel safer with each other, and build a more connected relationship.
